I'm Esther De La Ford
Relationship and Sex Educator, EFT Practitioner, Consultant, Hypnotherapist, Workshop Facilitator, regular BBC Contributor, Content Creator and Writer...
Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet, I'm so thrilled that you're here!
Trauma should not dictate how someone's life is lived years later,
healing is about more than 'surviving' or 'recovering',
is it about thriving.
I want you to feel empowered to reclaim your joy, take ownership of your desires and boundaries and reconnect with your body on a deeper and more compassionate level than you ever thought possible.
I want to help you redefine what sexual wellbeing and empowerment mean for you; healing and strengthening your relationships with yourself, your body, your sexuality and (if you have one…or more!) your partner.
My deepest belief is that a woman truly standing in her power has the ability to empower others, and so empowered women have the power to create a ripple that changes the world.
I wear a lot of hats, I’m multi-passionate and multi-talented and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Over the last 10 years I’ve dedicated all my spare time and a lot of my professional time to studying how the human mind and body heal after trauma.
My own experience of sexual violence in my mid-teens, and the lack of support available, or at least the lack of the kind I felt I really needed at the time, lead me on a path to try and find a way back to myself and my body that honoured me as a whole being and not just a victim of my trauma. My experience lead me to train in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique and traditional Life Coaching, along with a selection of other therapeutic techniques and self-help practices. I now only offer a small handful of affordable 1:1 consultancy sessions a month.
My passion is trauma-informed, pleasure-focused and inclusive sex and relationship education for everyone, at every age. From infancy into old age, we should continue to educate, expand, stay open to new ideas and work to shed layers of shame and stigma around the topics of sex, consent and pleasure.
I have been interviewed on BBC Scotland’s ‘The Kaye Adams Programme’ and BBC Radio 4 discussing relationships, mental health, body image and the wellness industry. I’ve been a guest on multiple podcasts including most recently Tricky Podcast on BBC Sounds, a guest speaker on a sex positivity panel for The Empowered Woman Project, consulted behind the scenes on a number of documentary projects for major networks and am a regular contributor to BBC’s ‘The Social’ discussing mental health, self-care, body image, sexual trauma healing and sex education.
Ten little facts about me:
I live in Scotland, in an old loch-side Georgian house that my partner and I have been lovingly renovating for two years now.
I love old things, they make me weep with joy. Old houses, old clothes, old gifts, old pottery. There's something reassuring about the stories they have to tell and their simple endurance.
I am a military partner of nearly 7 years. It can shape how our life looks, but doesn't define me, or our partnership.
I'm an introvert at heart. I love to connect, but my energy expands most in the quiet.
I believe play can heal most things in a relationship if both partners are willing to let their guard down.
Writing is where I find my voice most easily, through storytelling I find new ways to heal, dig deeper into my truth and invite others to do the same.
My pronouns are She/Her.
I was a lap-dancer for over 5 years, and while I left the industry because I was pulled to start my therapeutic work, I will always be an advocate for sex workers basic rights to be safe and protected, and my work, platforms and content will always attempt to be a safe space for them.
Daughter to a Homeopath/Artist/Oracle Deck-Illustrator who taught me it's possible to earn a living doing what you love.
Mama to one giant fluffy dog, one mega fat-puss and one grumpy, hissy mog with victorian values (she scowls at us whenever we try to have sex) who we love just the way she is.
